Hello Kitty Island Adventure Switch players have two versions to choose from: the original Nintendo Switch release from January 30, 2025 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition from November 13, 2025. The game is also on Apple Arcade, where it first launched in 2023, on Steam for Windows PC and on PlayStation 5. The official site doesn't list an Xbox or Android version.
This guide reflects the official site and US store pages as checked on October 16, 2026. Prices are regular US prices seen that day and change by region and during sales, and update timing and some content differ by platform.
01
Every platform and release date
| Platform | Release date | US regular price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Arcade (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV) | July 28, 2023 | Included with Apple Arcade ($6.99 a month or $49.99 a year) | DLC content included, no Deluxe Edition |
| Nintendo Switch | January 30, 2025 | $39.99 Standard, $59.99 Deluxe | Online play needs Nintendo Switch Online |
| Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | November 13, 2025 | $49.99, or a $9.99 upgrade pack for Switch owners | Higher frame rates, higher resolution, CameraPlay, mouse support |
| Steam (Windows PC) | January 30, 2025 | $39.99 Standard, $59.99 Deluxe Edition bundle | Steam Deck Verified |
| PlayStation 5 | August 5, 2025 | $39.99 Standard, $59.99 Deluxe | Online play needs PS Plus, per the wiki |
When we checked, Steam, Nintendo and PlayStation all showed a temporary discount on the base game, so you may pay less than the regular price. The official wiki says Apple Arcade usually gets new content first and other platforms catch up later, though some releases, mostly DLC launches, arrive everywhere on the same day. The free Welcome Home update (version 3.0) released on all platforms on October 8, 2026, according to the official wiki, and Apple's App Store listing now shows version 3.0.1 with its Player Home features. See the updates guide for what each platform has.
02
Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2 Edition
On the Nintendo eShop, the Switch version costs $39.99, the Deluxe Edition costs $59.99, and the Deluxe content is also sold as a $20.00 add-on. The Switch 2 Edition costs $49.99 on its own. If you already own the Switch version, Nintendo sells a $9.99 Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack instead. The paid expansions are separate purchases on Switch: City Town at $24.99, Wheatflour Wonderland at $14.99 and Tea Garden at $9.99.
Nintendo lists four Switch 2 improvements: higher frame rates and smoother visuals, enhanced resolution, CameraPlay for playing with friends, and Joy-Con 2 mouse support. Online play supports up to two players and needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership, which also adds cloud save backup.
According to the wiki, Switch and Switch 2 copies can't play online together because they run on different versions of the Unity engine, but saves are compatible both ways. The wiki also reports a physical Switch Deluxe Edition with the Deluxe content on the cartridge, and a Switch-only Gift Box Edition. The official site promotes the Gift Box and a "Friendship Bundle" for Nintendo Switch 2 marked for preorder, but its contents and price weren't shown on the official pages we checked.
03
Hello Kitty Island Adventure PC requirements and Steam Deck
The Steam version runs on Windows only, as Steam doesn't list Mac or Linux builds. The wiki notes that Mac players use Apple Arcade. Here are the requirements from the Steam store page:
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4360U or equivalent | Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X |
| Memory | 6 GB RAM | 6 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce 650 or AMD Radeon HD 7750, 1 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 380, 4 GB |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Storage | 5 GB | 5 GB |
For Hello Kitty Island Adventure PC players on handhelds, Steam rates the game Steam Deck Verified, with one note: first-time setup requires an active internet connection. Steam also lists Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, full controller support and online co-op. The wiki adds that the Steam version uses Denuvo DRM and, according to a developer, only needs to go online about once every 30 days.
04
Hello Kitty Island Adventure PS5 version
The Hello Kitty Island Adventure PS5 version launched on August 5, 2025, and the PlayStation Store lists it for PS5 only. The Standard Edition costs $39.99, the Deluxe Edition $59.99, and a Deluxe Edition Upgrade add-on costs $19.99 if you start with Standard. The PS5 expansions match the other stores at regular price: City Town $24.99, Wheatflour Wonderland $14.99 and Tea Garden $9.99.
If you want a disc, the wiki reports a physical PS5 Standard Edition, while the physical Deluxe Edition is Switch-only. According to the wiki, online multiplayer on PS5 needs a PS Plus subscription, as on Switch it needs Nintendo Switch Online.
05
Apple Arcade: subscription and earlier updates
Apple Arcade is the game's original home. Apple lists Arcade at $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US, with Family Sharing for up to five people. Arcade games have no in-app purchases, so everything sold as DLC elsewhere, including City Town, Wheatflour Wonderland and Tea Garden, is included. Arcade doesn't get the Deluxe Edition bundles. Our DLC guide breaks down each pack.
According to the wiki, Arcade updates arrive more often and usually earlier, and with cloud saves you can continue one save across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. That makes "Apple Arcade vs Switch" mostly a choice between a subscription with everything included and a one-time purchase plus optional DLC. Apple notes that you lose access to Arcade games if you cancel, though with iCloud enabled your progress is still there if you resubscribe.
06
Is Hello Kitty Island Adventure free?
The wiki is clear that the game isn't free-to-play on any platform, though people often call the Arcade version free because it comes with the subscription. There are still a few free ways to try it:
- Hello Kitty Island Intro (App Store): a free preview, released October 28, 2025, where you explore the Seaside Resort, cook and craft gifts, solve puzzles, fish and customize your avatar and cabins. You need Apple Arcade for the full game, and your progress carries over.
- Hello Kitty Island Adventure: Friends Pass (Steam): free since October 9, 2026. You can try the early stages on your own, or join a friend who owns the game online and play the entire adventure with them.
- Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial: Nintendo Switch Online members could play the full Switch game from October 9 at 10 a.m. PT to October 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT, 2026. That window has ended, but Nintendo says you keep your save data if you buy the game.
Apple's Arcade page also lists trial offers, such as three months free with an eligible new Apple device.
07
Hello Kitty Island Adventure Deluxe vs Standard
| What you get | Standard Edition | Deluxe Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | Yes | Yes |
| Deluxe Event Bundle: 300+ legacy event items | No | Yes |
| Deluxe Starter Bundle: 10 Friendship Blossoms, 3 Friendship Bouquets, 10 Island Bouquets, 50 Strawberry Crates | No | Yes |
| Deluxe Crafting Bundle: 50 of each dye, 100 Sticks, 45 Iron Ore, 50 Rubber | No | Yes |
| US regular price on Switch, Steam and PS5 | $39.99 | $59.99 |
The Deluxe Edition adds no new areas, and the paid expansions are sold separately. Per the wiki, all event items can still be earned when events return each year, and you can buy the Deluxe content later without losing your save. On Steam, the Deluxe Edition bundle only charges you for the parts you don't already own.
08
Xbox, Android and cross-progression
There is no Hello Kitty Island Adventure Xbox version listed on the official site as of October 16, 2026, and no Android version either. The official site lists Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam (PC) and PlayStation 5.
According to the wiki, Sunblink can't support cross-platform saves or crossplay, so a Switch save can't move to PS5 or Steam. Devices on the same platform do share, such as an iPhone and an Apple TV on one Apple account. Multiplayer is limited to two players, and our multiplayer guide covers how it works on each system.
09
Which version should you pick?
If you already pay for Apple Arcade, the Arcade version includes every content pack and gets updates early. If you want to play on a TV and on the go, the Switch 2 Edition adds the visual upgrades, while Steam Deck owners get a Verified PC version. Whichever you choose, our beginner's guide helps you get started on Friendship Island.
