Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLC currently means three paid content packs on Nintendo Switch, Steam (PC) and PlayStation 5: the City Town and Wheatflour Wonderland expansions and the Tea Garden themed pack. A separate Deluxe Edition add-on gives you item bundles rather than a new area. On Apple Arcade, all three content packs are included in the subscription, while the Deluxe Edition is not offered at all.

This guide reflects official store pages, Sunblink announcements and the official wiki as checked on October 16, 2026, shortly after the free Welcome Home update. Prices are regular US store prices seen that day and can change by region and during sales, and a few details differ between Apple Arcade and the other platforms.

When we checked, all three stores showed temporary discounts on several of these items, and Steam listed its promotion as ending October 19. Steam also sells a "Complete the Set" bundle with the base game and all four add-ons at $109.96 regular, and its bundles only charge you for items you don't already own.

According to the official wiki, Sunblink doesn't sell microtransactions such as loot boxes or premium currency, and seasonal events stay free everywhere. Expansions add a new region and a new Friend, while themed packs add clothing, furniture, recipes and quests around one theme without new characters.

02

City Town: Usahana's rainbow city

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLC City Town expansion launched on April 16, 2026 for Switch, Steam and PS5, and it is the priciest of the three packs. You join new friend Usahana in a vertical rainbow metropolis, help Sanrio friends such as Kuromi, My Sweet Piano and Tuxedosam open shops, and run a customizable Imagination Cafe where you craft orders for your friends.

The Steam and Nintendo listings promise:

  • Usahana as a new best friend with 35 friendship levels
  • 90+ original quests and "30+ hours of adventure" (the store's own estimate, not something we measured)
  • 150+ new clothing and furniture items and 60+ puzzles and challenges, including beneath the city
  • Seven new shops, custom avatar palettes and a customizable apartment complex inside the Rainbow Tower
  • Usahana's visitor friends Panya, Buppi, Wanwa, Sora and Nyako, plus a mystery cameo guest

The wiki adds a new flower, the Sunburst, six challenge courses and 13 puzzle rooms in the Sewers. Apple Arcade players got City Town much earlier: it first arrived in version 2.0 on September 18, 2024 and wrapped up with the 2.15.0 "City Town Finale" on April 16, 2026, the day the paid DLC launched elsewhere.

03

Wheatflour Wonderland: Cogimyun's magical realm

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLC Wheatflour Wonderland was the game's first expansion, arriving after the Deluxe Edition item DLC. It released on September 18, 2025 for Switch, Steam and Apple Arcade, and on October 2, 2025 for PS5. A potion mishap in Hello Kitty's cafe opens a portal to a world of wheat fields, stained-glass castles and ruins, where you meet Cogimyun, the Wheatflour Fairy.

According to the Steam page, you befriend Cogimyun across 35 friendship levels and craft magic wands that cast spells, turn you into critters or disguise you as objects. You hunt hidden Wheathearts in puzzles across what Sunblink calls its largest world since launch, grow the glittery Wheatflower, and meet Cogimyun's pet Ebi Fry and her little brother Cogimyon. The pack also adds character furniture, whimsical cabins and three mini games, one of them played with a friend.

04

Tea Garden: a themed content pack

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLC Tea Garden pack released on August 6, 2026 on every platform at once, and it is the game's first themed content DLC. Mysterious invitations to a Tea Garden Ball go out, nobody knows who is hosting, and new quests in the Merry Meadows have you helping My Melody with chores, encouraging Pochacco to dress up and uncovering Kuromi's secret admirer.

The Steam page lists 15 new clothing items with 300+ variants, while the official Tea Garden page advertises "600+ new clothing variations", so the two official sources count differently. Both list two new food stations, the Teapot and the Tiered Tray, with 38 new recipes. Steam also lists 15+ narrative quests, a furniture and decor set and 30+ outfits for Friends and Visitors.

Tea Garden adds no new characters and, per the wiki, isn't meant to change progression in any significant way. On Switch, Steam and PS5, a short extra quest called "Tea Garden" hands you a pack with every Tea Garden item and character outfit. Apple Arcade doesn't get that quest, so Arcade players trade for items at the Tea Garden Register and unlock outfits through the questline instead.

05

Deluxe Edition and bundles

The Deluxe Edition is the base game plus three Deluxe Bundles that you claim through short quests. It adds no new areas or story. The store pages list:

  • Deluxe Event Bundle: 300+ items, about one year of legacy clothing, furniture and cosmetics from events such as the 2023 Spooky Celebration, 2024 Hugs & Hearts and 2024 Under the Sea
  • Deluxe Starter Bundle: 10 Friendship Blossoms, 3 Friendship Bouquets, 10 Island Bouquets and 50 Strawberry Crates
  • Deluxe Crafting Bundle: 50 of each dye color, 100 Sticks, 45 Iron Ore and 50 Rubber

Per the wiki, the Deluxe content applies to every save on your account, and event items return each year, so you can still earn them without paying. The official site also lists a "Friendship Bundle" for Nintendo Switch 2 with a preorder label, but the official pages we checked didn't show its contents, price or date. Edition details are in the platforms guide.

06

Apple Arcade vs buying the DLC

Apple Arcade doesn't allow in-game purchases, so content sold as DLC elsewhere comes with the subscription: City Town, Wheatflour Wonderland and Tea Garden. Arcade misses out on the Deluxe bundles and the Tea Garden bundle quest. Apple lists Arcade at $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year in the US.

On Switch, Steam and PS5 you buy each pack once from the platform store, such as the Tea Garden page on Steam. None are needed to finish the main Friendship Island story, and a newly bought pack appears in your existing save, usually through related quests. Saves don't transfer between platforms, so moving to Arcade for the included content means starting over.

In two-player sessions, a friend who doesn't own a pack can't receive or keep its items and may not be able to enter its area, because the wiki says DLC items could damage their save. See the multiplayer guide for how visits work.

07

How to unlock each DLC area in-game

Buying a pack doesn't drop you straight into it. Each one starts with a quest:

  • Wheatflour Wonderland: finish the "Potion Hunt" quest series and "Open the Nature Preserve", then Kuromi offers "Potion Problems". You'll need 5 Glow Berries, 35 Mushrooms, 5 Pumpkins, 5 Spinips, 1 Blank Book and 4 Pumpkin Pies from the Oven, and the portal opens in the Hello Kitty Cafe.
  • City Town: complete "Deep Diving", "Keep It Reel" and "A Zipline Adventure", and reach friendship level 7 with Badtz-maru, Keroppi, Chococat, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll. Badtz-maru then starts "Ship Shape" about a mysterious boat at the Resort Docks, followed by "Into the Fog".
  • Tea Garden: after the Island Mystery quest "Curiouser and Curiouser", Hello Kitty starts "Secrets & Scones", which unlocks the Teapot and Tray stations. On non-Apple platforms, the bonus "Tea Garden" quest appears after the "Small Gift Big Smile" quest.

Our quest guide and island map help you track down the prerequisites.

08

Is the Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLC worth it?

We haven't timed any of these packs, so this weighs only what the stores and official sources list.

  • City Town has the longest store feature list, for $24.99: a new best friend, 90+ quests, 150+ items, 60+ puzzles, seven shops and a cafe. Just plan for the friendship and quest requirements before you can sail there.
  • Wheatflour Wonderland costs $14.99 for a new region, a new friend and the wand mechanic. A developer said in a Discord Q&A, recorded on the wiki, that its story branches early, so you don't need to finish the base game first.
  • Tea Garden costs $9.99 for clothing, furniture, recipes and quests. With no new characters, it suits decorators, especially alongside the free Welcome Home features in our homes guide.
  • Deluxe Edition is a convenience purchase. Everything in it can be earned through normal play over time, so it helps most early in a new save.

If you already own Apple devices, Arcade includes all three content packs, but you lose the Deluxe bundles and can't bring your save. Check the updates guide too, since big updates like Welcome Home have arrived free rather than as paid DLC.
