Hello Kitty Island Adventure quests are tasks that island friends give you, and you track them in the Quests app on your Menu Tablet. They fall into categories such as The Island Mystery (the main story), Friendship Quests, Visitor Quests, Daily and Weekly Quests, Special Gatherings and the new Welcome Home quests. Most quests unlock through a mix of friendship levels, finished prerequisite quests and the daily reset.
This guide reflects the official wiki as of October 16, 2026, after the free version 3.0 Welcome Home update arrived on all platforms on October 8, 2026. New content usually reaches Apple Arcade first, so your quest list can differ by platform and version.
01
Where to find your quests and the Quest Guide
Tap the Menu Tablet in the upper right corner of the screen, then open the Quests app. Each quest sits under a category with its own symbol, so you can spot story quests at a glance.
When you are working on a quest, the Quest Guide (also called the Guiding Light) floats above your character as a glowing orb and leads you to the next stop. If you would rather see it all the time, open the Settings app on the tablet, go to Gameplay and switch on "Always show Quest Guide".
02
Every quest category, as the game sorts them
The wiki's Quests page groups quests like this:
| Category | Symbol | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| The Island Mystery | Blue top hat with a question mark | The main story |
| The Right Tools | Maroon hammer | Unlocking new tools and abilities |
| Around The Island | Two green mountains | Exploring, collecting and finding objects |
| Friendship Quests | Red cartoon heart | Helping a friend once you reach a set friendship level |
| Multiplayer Quests | Blue icon with two figures | Tasks that need two players in a multiplayer session |
| Daily Quests | Orange calendar with an exclamation mark | Small tasks that refresh every day |
| Weekly Quests | Brown calendar | Tasks that refresh every Monday |
| Visitor Quests | Pink suitcase with a heart | Quests tied to Island Visitors |
| Special Gatherings | Blue birthday cake | Events, birthdays and other special occasions |
| Welcome Home | Red house | Homes, Mailboxes and other Welcome Home features |
The DLC expansions add their own categories: Wheatflour Wonderland, City Town, Tea Garden and Deluxe Edition quests. The wiki also tracks Periodic Side Quests, which appear in your log on a random day of the week.
Story and progression quests
The Island Mystery quests are the main story, in which you help restore Friendship Island and uncover its hidden secrets. The Right Tools quests hand you new tools and abilities, and some story quests open them up, as Power Up the Gate does with Building Bridges. Around The Island quests mostly unlock at random once you meet their requirements, usually about one a week, and the day differs from player to player.
Friendship, visitor and multiplayer quests
Friendship Quests unlock at certain friendship levels with a character, and a second group, Best Friends quests, opens once a resident reaches Best Friends status. Visitor Quests are not the everyday requests visitors make while staying on your island; those count as Daily Quests. True Visitor Quests either unlock once visitors become 5-star residents who have moved into a Visitor Cabin permanently, or they are quests that let you unlock a new visitor. See the visitors guide for how to get visitors to stay. Multiplayer Quests can only be finished in a multiplayer session with two players, and the multiplayer guide explains how sessions work.
Daily, weekly and periodic quests
You get at most four Daily Quests a day, plus a fifth if you own City Town or Wheatflour Wonderland, and one of them is always Gift Shop from My Melody. Visitors staying in Visitor Cabins get first claim on the other three slots unless an event daily quest is running. Weekly Quests arrive every Monday at reset, up to five a week with one from each weekly category. Periodic Side Quests pop up on a random day, and more than one can be active at once.
Event, Welcome Home and DLC quests
Special Gatherings cover event quests and birthday quests. Event quests can only be done while the event runs, once per year, and they return each year. Birthday quests are kinder: if you start one during the celebration, you can finish it any time, but if you never start it during the event, you cannot complete it. DLC quests need the matching DLC on Switch, Steam and PlayStation. Apple Arcade includes DLC content in the subscription and does not offer the Deluxe Edition quests, which are only for Deluxe Edition owners on the other three platforms.

How quests unlock
Almost every locked quest is waiting on one of these things.
- Friendship levels. Many quests need a set level with one or more friends. You raise friendship by giving gifts and by finishing quests centred on that friend, and each friend's page in the Friends menu shows what their next levels unlock. Gifts are capped each day, so steady daily gifting adds up; the gift guide helps you pick high-value presents.
- Prerequisite quests. Story quests often need earlier quests, including side quests. For example, The Mystery Tree needs the friendship quests Fish Noir and Swimming Lessons as well as the main-story quest Stargazing.
- The daily reset. Many quests only appear the reset after their prerequisite. The wiki puts reset at 12:00 AM Mountain Time, listed as 7:00 AM GMT or 6:00 AM GMT during daylight saving time. Some wiki pages swap those two GMT times, so treat midnight Mountain Time as the reference.
- Items and time of day. A few quests want something in hand first. A Challenging Rescue needs at least three Stamina Apples, Return to the Heart needs at least 15 Spirit Hearts, and Stargazing only starts at night.
- Random timing. Around The Island and Periodic Side Quests can take days to appear even after you qualify.

Main story quests in order
If you want Hello Kitty Island Adventure quests in order, note that the wiki keeps a full Hello Kitty Island Adventure quest list, but its Island Mystery list is alphabetical. The table below follows the prerequisites listed on each quest's wiki page instead, so it doubles as a light Hello Kitty Island Adventure walkthrough of the story. Several branches can run side by side, so treat it as a dependency map rather than a strict sequence. Quests marked "next reset" only start after the daily reset that follows their prerequisite.

A Friend Indeed, which needs My Melody at friendship level 15, unlocks My Sweet Piano, and you need to have met her before Ice and Glow can start. Purple Rain sits behind a long prerequisite chain, so the Purple Rain quest guide walks through The Mystery Tree requirements and materials in detail. The Welcome Home update also wove Homes into the story from nearly the beginning, so very early steps may now include Home quests too.

Welcome Home quests in 3.0
The official Welcome Home announcement says that helping your Sanrio friends build Character Homes also uncovers a new Friendship Island mystery. On the wiki, the Player Home chain starts with Cornerstones, which needs Power Up the Gate, A Zipline Adventure, Finding Flippers and Delivery Service. That leads to Crafty Drafting, which gives you the Drafting Table and Home Construction Plans, and then the Welcome Home quest, which unlocks your Player Home.
From there, Hello Home starts after a reset and asks for Deep Diving plus friendship with several residents, including Hello Kitty, Kuromi and Keroppi. House Party, New Neighborhoods and Party Plots hand out Construction Plans for Character Homes. Each character's Mailbox quest needs Gifts Galore, that character's finished home and a friendship level from 12 up to 20, the highest being Hello Kitty's. The wiki notes that you meet the new friend Marroncream repeatedly as you finish Character Homes, and that those homes are designed to be completed over time. The homes guide covers building and decorating.

Quests locked? What to check
When Hello Kitty Island Adventure quests seem locked, run through this list before assuming a bug.
- Wait for reset. If you just finished a prerequisite, the next quest may not appear until after midnight Mountain Time.
- Check friendship levels. Open the friend's page in the Friends menu to see what their next level unlocks.
- Look for missing side quests. Main-story quests can depend on friendship or tool quests.
- Gather required items. Some quests will not start until you hold items such as Stamina Apples or enough Spirit Hearts.
- Mind events. Event quests vanish when the event ends, and birthday quests only stay open if you started them during the celebration.
- Check your platform and DLC. New quests usually land on Apple Arcade first, and DLC quests need that DLC on Switch, Steam or PlayStation.
- Leave your clock alone. The game runs on your device's clock, and the developers strongly advise against changing the date, which can break events and disable multiplayer.
