Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitors are Sanrio characters who travel to Friendship Island and stay in a Visitor Cabin, but only when an empty cabin meets their requirements. You unlock them by starting the "Friends and Family" quest, decorate a cabin with the right items and tags, complete one request per visit, and once a visitor reaches five stars you can ask them to stay for good as a permanent resident.

This guide reflects the free Welcome Home update (version 3.0), released on every platform on October 8, 2026, and draws on the official Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wiki and Sunblink's announcements. Some visitors come from paid DLC, availability can differ by platform, and rotations can change, so treat the Visitors app on your Menu Tablet as the final word.

How Island Visitors work

Visitors are often friends or family of the island's residents, and talking to one gives you a special gift once per day. A visitor won't appear in the Visitors app until you unlock them: each needs you to have met and befriended their related Friend, and many also need a friendship level or a finished quest.

For example, My Melody's Papa unlocks at friendship level 15 with My Melody after you meet My Sweet Piano, Hello Kitty's Grandpa needs friendship level 25 with Hello Kitty, and Nina needs the "A Long Awaited Introduction" quest. The Visitors app shows each visitor's star rating, stay or travel dates, liked item tag, any cabins that already satisfy them and their full cabin requirements, so check it before you redecorate.

How visitor cabins work

Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitor cabins are not the same as Homes. Cabins are for you, multiplayer friends and visitors, while Homes are for you and resident Friends, and Character Homes can't be built for visitors (see the Homes guide). Since Welcome Home, My Melody helps you build a Home before you get a cabin. "Friends and Family", which follows "Building Bridges" and the "Welcome Home" quest, has you repair a Visitor Cabin and unlocks visitors, and "Bigger on the Inside" unlocks upgrades. The wiki flags the older "Make Yourself At Home" cabin quest as changed by the update and possibly gone.

On Friendship Island you repair cabins with Strawberry Crates, and the opening cost depends on the region. My Melody cuts it by one crate when her companion ability is unlocked and she is your companion. Upgrades cost 3, 5, 8, 15 and 25 crates (56 in total) everywhere and add up to five rooms, for six rooms per cabin.

In City Town, the Rainbow Tower works as a visitor cabin and uses Orange Sherbet Crates. Wheatflour Wonderland has six cabins, labeled A to F, that My Melody unlocks during the "Castle Crew" quest and that can't be upgraded. Both regions are paid DLC on Steam, covered in the DLC guide.

03

Meeting cabin requirements with tags

Requirements can include a region, specific furniture or food, and a number of items with a certain tag. The add-furniture menu inside a cabin can be filtered by Tags or by Visitor, which narrows the list to items that count for the visitor you pick. The furniture tags guide explains how tags work.

While furnishing, press the Visitor button at the lower left. If a visitor's icon appears, the room meets their requirements, and the number on the button shows how many visitors it satisfies. The sign outside the cabin shows the same.

Hearts are a bonus on top of the requirements. Each item in the room with the visitor's liked tag adds one heart, up to five, and hearts only show once the room already qualifies. They aren't required, but they raise the chance that an available visitor picks your cabin. Since Welcome Home, saved Layouts and Kits also have a Satisfies button that lists the visitors a design fulfills.

04

These hkia visitor cabin requirements are copied from each visitor's wiki page. Where a visitor must live in Seaside Resort, those pages note that Home Island also counts. "No region listed" means the wiki gives no location rule.

Baku and Nina both need Spooky Celebration furniture, sold at the event's Event Stand in the Resort Plaza. Sunblink's Spooky Celebration announcement says the event runs from September 24 through October 31. The wiki adds that Spooky Celebration clothing on a Clothing Stand also counts.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure visitors schedule

Some visitors can come anytime; others follow a seasonal rotation, a weekly rotation or both. Fall runs from September 1 to November 30. During Fall, the wiki lists Baku, Ganta, Kyorosuke, Noberun and Hidarin for the whole season, Berry and Cherry every other week, and Nuts on a weekly rotation.

Weekly travelers can start a visit from Thursday to Monday, and the wiki's weekly table moves on every Tuesday in your local time zone. When a satisfactory cabin is empty and a visitor is available, they have a 50% chance per day to visit, boosted by liked-tag hearts. Travelers also get a guaranteed visit after missing two possible days, counting only days you log in. On a visitor's birthday they are guaranteed to visit an empty satisfactory cabin, even outside their travel window.

For visitors this week, the wiki's rotation lists October 15 to 19 for Cappuccino, Nuts, Poron and Cherry; Keroppi's Grandma and Grandpa; Fenneko, Puko, Kabae, Chief Komiya, Director Ton, President Elephant and Manaka; plus Itaro, Kuma and City Town's Panya. October 22 to 26 brings My Melody's Grandma and Grandpa; Espresso, Nuts and Berry; Haida, Gori, Washimi, Tsunoda and Tsubone; plus Otamaro, Neko and City Town's Sora. This table is maintained by wiki editors, so confirm the dates in your Visitors app.

06

Visitor requests, stars and permanent residents

Each visit, the visitor asks you to complete one request, which appears as a Daily Quest. You can finish only one per visit, and each raises their rating by one star. Once it's done they leave at the next daily reset; otherwise they stay until reset at the start of the last day on their schedule.

A visitor can't come back on the same day they leave, and the room they left counts as occupied for that day. Other visitors can't use an occupied room, so give every visitor their own room, even best friends, family members and duos.

At five stars, the visitor asks to stay permanently when you talk to them. Permanent residents no longer need their cabin requirements met, so you can redecorate freely. A resident you ask to leave keeps their five stars, and residents can move cabins, though region-bound visitors only swap within their region. Some residents unlock Visitor Quests, a separate category; Lutz, for example, is needed for "Grand Garden Gathering", which unlocks the Greenhouse (see the quests guide).

07

Why visitors are not giving quests

If a visitor in a cabin isn't offering a request, the wiki points to a few causes:

  • They already have five stars. Visitors stop giving requests once they reach the top rating.
  • The request slots are full. You get four Daily Quests by default. One is always My Melody's "Gift Shop", and visitors in cabins get priority for the other three, so at most three cabin visitors can give requests at once. Having City Town or Wheatflour Wonderland raises the total to five Daily Quests but adds no visitor slots, and event Daily Quests don't use visitor slots.
  • You can't meet the request yet. Some requests have conditions; Dear Daniel, for example, has special requirements for his four-star and five-star requests.
  • They are waiting, not staying. Up to five available visitors without a cabin can show up at the Umbrella Tables in the Resort Plaza in a day. Waiting visitors don't offer quests, but once you prepare a satisfactory cabin they move in right away and give their next request, beyond the normal daily limit.
  • A quest brought them. A visitor brought to the Umbrella Tables by a quest won't notice a cabin you prepared in advance until you edit it after meeting them.

The wiki also lists a known bug: a waiting visitor can't move in the same day if one of their requirements is met by clothing on a Clothing Stand or by fish or critters in a Habitat.

Quick tips for a busy guest list

Keep one room per visitor. Upgrades cost the same everywhere while opening costs vary, so in pricey regions like Merry Meadow upgrading can be cheaper per room; the wiki's example reaches 8 Merry Meadow rooms for 62 crates. Liked tags overlap with resident gift tastes, so the gift guide helps you spot items worth keeping. Sunblink's Welcome Home announcement also says more special visitors, including a couple of family members, are on their way.
