Your Hello Kitty Island Adventure house is the Player Home you build on Home Island, and it arrived with the free Welcome Home update. You unlock it through three My Melody quests: "Cornerstones" (repair the Foundation with 4 Cornerstones), "Crafty Drafting" (unlock the Drafting Table and your Home Construction Plan) and "Welcome Home" (hand in your finished home in a box). After that, the same system lets you build Character Homes for your Sanrio friends all over the island.

This guide reflects version 3.0, Welcome Home, which released on all platforms on October 8, 2026, and the official wiki as it stood on October 16, 2026. Some wiki quest pages were still being filled in, and more Character Homes are planned for a later update, so requirements and costs can change between patches and platforms.

01

How to unlock your Player Home

Home Island is the Seaside Resort area that used to be called the Cozy Islands, linked to the main island by the bridge you repair in "Building Bridges". The housing questline opens once you have finished "Power Up The Gate", "A Zipline Adventure", "Finding Flippers" and "Delivery Service". From there the quests run in this order:

  1. Cornerstones (from My Melody). Follow her up the hill to the Foundation she found, and she hands you your first Cornerstone. Gift Chococat a Blank Book, Hello Kitty a Strawberry and Badtz-maru a Coconut to earn more, then spend 4 Cornerstones to repair the Foundation.
  2. Crafty Drafting (from My Melody). Gift Chococat 5 Sand Dollars, 3 Sugarkelp, 1 Paper and 1 Spark so the Drafting Table can be built. Then gather the Island Home-in-a-Box materials and craft it at the table.
  3. Welcome Home (from My Melody). Hand in the Island Home-in-a-Box to unlock your Player Home. The wiki lists an Antique Standing Mirror, Antique Side Table, Antique Chair and Antique Bed as rewards, and this is where you first meet the mysterious newcomer Marroncream.

Once your house stands, a Mailbox at your home replaces the Collection Box and works the same way, plus it adds menus to customize the exterior, order decor (from Home Level 2) and track progress. If you are still working through the earlier story, the quest guide covers the quests that come before this chain.

Island Home-in-a-Box and Home Construction Plans

The Drafting Table is a new crafting station on Home Island. It builds homes, furniture and more, but only when you hold the matching Construction Plans, which come from quests, friends, event stands and the Order Decor shop at your Mailbox. Construction Plans are separate from Crafting Plans, Instructions and Recipes, and they cannot be gifted to other players in multiplayer.

The Island Home-in-a-Box can only be crafted once. Its plan, exactly as the wiki lists it:

Island Home-in-a-Box ingredientAmount
Strawberry Crate1
Sand Dollar5
Gizmo2
Coconut1
Rubber1
Pineapple1

One rule matters for every later plan. When a plan asks for several items with a tag, you need that many copies of one single item, such as five of the same fish rather than five different fish. The furniture tags guide explains how tags are assigned.

03

Cornerstones and Foundation locations

Every home, yours or a friend's, sits on a Foundation that you repair with Cornerstones. You earn 1 Cornerstone per Friend per day, but only when you give that Friend 3 gifts that day. Rarity and hearts don't matter, and one or two gifts earn nothing, because the count resets daily.

The Cornerstones arrive in your Mailbox after the next daily reset, so the ceiling is 22 per day, one per Friend. Gifts given before the "Welcome Home" quest do not count, and in multiplayer Cornerstones cannot be gifted or picked up by visiting players. Use the gift guide to plan three easy gifts for each friend.

The wiki maps 27 Character Home plots across 11 regions. Here is where the Foundations are, by region:

Single plots range from 5 Cornerstones (Seaside Resort plot 2) to 1000 (the second Moon plot), and all 27 cost 3930 in total. The cheapest arrangement the wiki lists for housing all 22 friends is 1630 Cornerstones, or 1430 without the two DLC regions. Flexible friends such as Badtz-maru, Chococat, Pochacco and Cinnamoroll can go in several regions, while Kiki and Lala belong on Cloud Island or the Moon. The plot list already includes friends whose homes are not in 3.0 yet.

04

Character Homes and the quests that unlock them

In version 3.0 you can build homes for Hello Kitty, My Melody, Tuxedosam, Badtz-maru, Chococat, Pochacco, Keroppi, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Hangyodon, Pompompurin and Pekkle, plus Cogimyun and Usahana if you own their expansions. The wiki says the remaining friends' homes are planned for version 3.1 on Apple Arcade or the next Content Update on other platforms. Island Visitors never get Character Homes.

Usahana's plan comes from the City Town quest "A Rainbow Roof". After House Party, New Neighborhoods and Party Plots, the "Dream Homes" series (Parts One to Three) asks you to finish each batch; you wait a day between parts, and a friend's Mailbox is not required to count a home as done. Chococat's "Doorknob Know-how" follows House Party and gives Square Doorway and Narrow Straight Stairs plans. Marroncream keeps turning up as homes are finished, handing out Pocket Room Doorknobs and Spun Lace.

Hello Kitty's Island Home requirements

Hello Kitty's home is the first of the HKIA Character Homes. You draft it at the Drafting Table during "Ready to Move" and place it on any repaired Foundation in Seaside Resort. Its plan asks for:

  • 3 Fruit-tagged items (three of the same item)
  • 3 Bakery-tagged items
  • 3 Fancy-tagged items
  • 1 Hello Kitty Bookcase
  • 1 Hello Kitty Ottoman
  • 1 Hello Kitty Side Table
  • 3 Apples

The Hello Kitty Ottoman first comes from a Treasure Chest near one of the Visitor Cabins on the right side of Spooky Swamp; after that you can buy it at Small Gift Big Smile for 10 Sand Dollars. The Bookcase unlocks at friendship level 6 with Hello Kitty and the Side Table at level 4, and Small Gift Big Smile then sells them for 30 and 7 Sand Dollars respectively.

05

Upgrading and customizing your house

Your Player Home levels up as you finish Character Homes, and the Character Homes button on your Mailbox shows your progress. The wiki's level table:

Home levelCharacter Homes listed for next levelWhat the level unlocks
13Plain Facade, Shingle Roof, Basic Mailbox, Entrance Arch, Empty Yard, Basic Landscaping
271 Pocket Room, Facade and Roof customizing, Ordering Decor, Tropical Thatched Roof, Scalloped Shingle Roof, Cottage Facade, Tropical Facade
3122 Pocket Rooms, Fence and Landscape customizing, flowers in flowerbeds, Picket, Post and Rail, Post and Rope and Wrought Iron fences
4Highest level listed3 Pocket Rooms, Yard customizing, Pool and Umbrella, Beach Volleyball Net, Patio Dining Set

Exterior changes go through the Customize Decor menu at your Mailbox. Pocket Rooms add extra rooms behind doors or stairs, in your Home or your cabins, and Floorplans reshape a room. There are 18 Floorplans to unlock, but every room keeps a 200-item limit.

Your own house cannot be moved off its Home Island plot. Character Homes can be moved as long as the friend's location rule still holds, though the wiki suggests waiting until a home is fully built. You can't change a friend's exterior, and you can only redecorate the inside once you are Best Friends. Doing so clears the default furniture without adding it to your inventory, and packing up in Furnishing Mode brings the default back.

Character Mailboxes unlock in Cinnamoroll's "Gifts Galore". Each needs the friend's home built, at least Close Friend status and 3 Cornerstones. Gifts you leave inside are delivered at the next reset if that friend was under the daily gift limit.

06

Layouts, layout codes and sharing

Layouts save the arrangement of a Home or cabin room, either a whole Floorplan or a single space. They don't hold the furniture, so you need the items in your inventory. Kits store the design and the items together and take those items out of your inventory. You create a Layout with the Add Layout icon inside the room, find it under Kits and Layouts in Furnishing Mode, and can keep up to 100 per save.

Each Layout has a code you copy with the Copy Code button and share with other players. Deleting a Layout is permanent unless you still have its code. Friends give you the Layout for their own house once it is built (Hello Kitty hands hers over in "House Party"); Hello Kitty's code is RBL2XX and Kuromi's is P5L4Y5. The Satisfies button shows which Island Visitors a Layout meets requirements for, which helps with visitor cabins.

07

How Homes differ from cabins

Hello Kitty Island Adventure homes and cabins are separate systems. Cabins are repaired and upgraded with crates, such as Strawberry Crates on Friendship Island, and are meant for you, multiplayer friends and Island Visitors. Homes use Cornerstones on Foundations and belong only to you and your Friends.

Welcome Home also changed cabins: Layouts, Kits, Floorplans, Pocket Rooms and floor and wall customizing all work there too. Apple Arcade got some of these early in versions 2.18 and 2.19; the updates page has the timeline, and the DLC guide covers the expansions you need for Cogimyun's and Usahana's homes. For the official patch notes, see the Welcome Home announcement on Steam.
